Qilwa Governorate

It is one of the governorates of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affiliated to Al-Baha ‎Province. It is pronounced /qilwah/. Some believe that this name indicates ‎scorching heat characterizing the area’s climate, as in summer the weather ‎becomes very hot. ‎

Location:‎

Qilwa Governorate is located in the southwestern part of Al-Baha Province and forms the main part of the Tihamah. It is situated within the borders of Al-Baha Province between longitude (42/41) and latitude (20/19). It includes more than (335) villages and suburbs. Climate:‎

Scorching hot in summers, mild winters, with spectacle nature and breathtaking landscapes during the spring.


Topography:‎

Qilwa Governorate is distinguished with high altitudes and multiple valleys. It is 400m above sea level.


Population:‎

The population of Qilwa Governorate is (58,000) people distributed over five centers and inhabited by several tribes from Zahran.


Livestock:‎

The governorate, its centers and villages have a significant number of livestock including cattle, cows, sheep and camels. They are of paramount importance to the economy of the governorate.


Agricultural products:‎

Qilwa Governorate has diverse vegetation because of the terrain variation. As the governorate extends from the Sarawat Mountains to the east through the coastal area of the Red Sea to the west. The most famous trees and plants are acacia tortilis, ziziphus spina christi, vachellia flava, salvadora persica, tamarix aphylla, olea europaea, ficus sycamorus, dobera glabra, boswellia sacra, acacia nilotica as well as various wild plants.

  • Qilwa City:

It includes several districts and villages, (Musharrafah District- Al-Khalif District - Habs bin Zainah District- Al-Kadamah District- Al-Asir District- Habs District at Al-Jawer - Habs Al-Wajd District - Umm Salamah District - Al-Dar District).

It also includes several villages and suburbs, (Dubiah village – Yahr village – Al-Kataa Village – Qahtan Village – Ar-Rasat Village – Tawousa Village – Al-Tawla Village – Al-Masaad Village – Qaraa Village – Al-Ghubasha Village – Al-Madha Village – Wadi Mahala Villages – Wadi Siba Villages – Hanadha Village - Radaan Village – Al-Jaada Village – Al-Nabaa - Al Hassas) 

  •  Al-Shoara Center:

 It is located in the north of Qilwa Governorate and is about 30 km away. It is one of the administrative centers of Qilwa Governorate. It includes several villages, (Al-Madhaha, Al-Umrah, Thamran, Ayas, Ghalila, Al-Najil, Al-Zarrab, Rakhza, Du).

  •  Balsood and Al Suwaidi Center (Al-Rumaidah):

It is located in the western part of Qilwa Governorate and is about 45km away. It includes several villages, including (Al-Haddan, Al-Saalik, Karwan Al-Suwaidi, Karwan Al-Abadi)

  •  Al-Muhammadiya Center:

It is located in the eastern part of the governorate, about 20 km away. It includes several villages, (the villages of Al-Habs Fort, Siala, Al-Taraf, Al-Ain villages, and Al Abdulhamid villages).

  •  Reem Center:

It is also located in the north of Qilwa Governorate and is about 10km away. It includes several villages, (Reem Al-Maawi, Al-Sarafah, Al-Ghoula, Dhahra, Taif, Al-Masid, Al-Karn, Al-Nasbah). 

  •  Al-Shaab Center:

It is located southwest of Qilwa Governorate forming the last border of Al-Baha Province from the southwest side with the borders of Makkah Al-Mukarrama Province. It includes several villages, (the villages of Wadi Al-Shaab Al-Shami, Al-Muharraq, Umm Al-Bunayn, Al-Qalafu, the villages of Wadi Al-Thoaban, Al-Humaira, Duhu, the villages of Wadi Al-Shaab Al-Yamani, Al-Awqaa, Al-Sakhir, Al-Safaridah).
