Al-Hajra Governorate
It is a governorate of Al-Baha Province, located within Tihamah area. It was announced as a governorate in 1434 A.H.
Location:
It is approximately 45 km away from Emirate of Al-Baha. It is situated in the northeast and the eastern part of the province extending over vast area. It is linked to Al-Aqiq Governorate on the borders through Bisha Governorate of Asir Province, and to Makkah Al-Mukarramah province, as it neighbors both the Ranyah and Turubah governorates.
Al-Hajra Governorate Centers:
- Jrdabaniali Center: It was established in 1399 A.H.. It is located on the eastern side of Al-Hajra Governorate. It links the governorate and Al-Baha Province to Aqaba Dhi Manaa Road. It includes 43 villages.
- Al-Jareen Center: Established in 1405 A.H., it constitutes the gateway of the governorate from the western side and the end of the borders of Al-Baha Province with the administrative borders of Makkah Al-Mukarramah Province. It includes 46 villages.
- Wadi Rama Center: It was established in 1429 A.H. and is located between Jrdabaniali and Al-Shoara Centers. It includes 53 villages.
- Bani Atta Center
Al-Hajra Governorate Borders:
- To the north, it is bordered by Dhi Rahjan, Rei Mahajah, and the administrative borders of Adham Governorate of Makkah Al-Mukarramah Province;
- To the south, it is bordered by Al-Shoara Center of Qilwa Governorate;
- To the east, it is bordered by the Sarawat Mountains; and
- To the west, it is bordered by Al-Shawaq Center of Al-Laith Governorate at Makkah Al-Mukarramah Province.
Area:
The area of Al-Hajra Governorate is approximately 35,000 km2, constituting the total area of the governorate and its administrative centers.
Climate:
Hot summers, mild to cold in winter with heavy rainfalls during winters.
Topography:
The governorate contains a mixture of mountains, valleys and plains as we go towards the Red Sea coast.
Population:
The population of Al-Hajra governorate and its centers is approximately (30,000) thirty thousand people.
The Governorate's Commercial Activity and Prominent Markets:
The Sunday market (Souq Al-Ahd) is located in the heart of the governorate. It is one of the oldest markets in the southwest of the Arabian Peninsula. It is a commercial center in the Tihamah area serving the population inside and outside the region. It now has the new characteristics of the markets including trade and other services.
Livestock:
It is renowned for farming livestock in abundance including, without limitation, sheep, goats, camels and cows.
Agricultural Products:
Al-Hajra is considered a fertile agricultural land where agriculture depends mainly on rainwater. The most important agricultural crops are (corn, millet, sesame, watermelon, melon).
